Majid Mozan Ghtami Group

Manufacture and Supplying of Bitumen

Majid Mozan Gtami (MMG) is an independent Specialized Bitumen Company, focusing on production, engineering, packing, melting and distribution of hot & cold Bitumen (Asphalt) on Iraqi Markets. The Group is involved in the entire supply chain from production to pavement, bringing its clients Supply Security, Quality Control & Quality Assurance, Supply Reliability & Continuity, which translates into mitigating the biggest risks of end user contractors. We offer customers: • Oxidant Bitumen factory (Bitumen, Gas) Here at (MMG) we base our service on two main principles – the provision of affordable products and services that rival our competitors while allowing our customers to stay within their budgets and we offer a quality product that is strides ahead and that provides a home from home atmosphere in even the most challenging of environments. As part of maintaining our commitment to those principles we place our customers at the forefront of everything we do. From our initial quote through to the implementation of your project, your needs are given the top priority. We have systems in place at both an external and internal level to ensure that all projects remain within budgetary constraints and that fixed price contracts are provided to add another layer of confidence, when needed. Our additional auditing procedures ensure that these principles are maintained throughout the project and that they fit into your own financial structures and compliance.

What is bitumen?

Bitumen is an important component of our world. The substance is responsible for waterproofing, sealing, and insulating different materials in a myriad of industries. Apart from that, bitumen is used widely in road construction as a strong binder. Bitumen not only lowers costs of road construction, but it also reduces the need for maintenance and prolongs the service life of roads across the world. Bitumen has various types and grades. Based on its resource (natural or refined), bitumen comes with different features and properties. This results in the classification of bitumen into various grades with different applications. For each property of bitumen and in order to make bitumen more understandable, we have provided a comprehensive database of bitumen properties, types, and grades, on our website before. Below you can see our introduction to these databases.

Quality Control

Our company has established a complete joint quality control system of ISO9001:2008/API Q1/pressure pipeline compents production, implements institutionalized management, programmed operation, and achieved nine 100% qualified controlling rate, which are:100% ultrasonic flaw detection for the material plate;100% automatic on-line UT test after welding; 100% whole-length seam X-ray test; 100% inside weld line industrial TV test; 100% hydrostatic test; 100% automatic on-line seam UT test after hydrostatic test, expanding; 100% X-ray test and make X-ray film or picture record on pipe ends; 100% pipe appearance and plate appearance inspection, and all above tests are proceeded by quality control department. The purpose is to ensure our product to meet standard requirement and satisfy the users.

Bitumen

Produced?Petroleum Bitumen, normally called “Bitumen” or “Asphalt” is produced by refining crude oil. Used as a binder in road-building products, it is a very viscous, black or dark brown material. The crude oil is pumped from storage tanks, where it is kept at about 60°C, through a heat exchanger system where its temperature is increased to typically 200°C by exchanging heat gained from the cooling of newly produced products in the refining process. The crude is then further heated in a furnace to typically 300° C where it is partly vaporized into an Atmospheric Distillation Column. Here the physical separation of the components occurs. The lighter components rise to the top and the heaviest components (the atmospheric residue) fall to the bottom of the column and pass through a second heat exchanger prior to treatment in a vacuum distillation column. Finally, Bitumen is obtained by vacuum distillation or vacuum flashing of atmospheric residue from the vacuum distillation column. This is «straight run bitumen”. This process is called bitumen production by straight run vacuum distillation. An alternative method of bitumen production is by precipitation from residual fractions by propane or butane-solvent deasphalting. The bitumen thus obtained has properties which derive from the type of crude oil processed and from the mode of operation in the vacuum unit or in the solvent deasphalting unit. The grade of the bitumen depends on the amount of volatile material that remains in the product: the smaller the amount of volatiles, the harder the residual bitumen. Specialists in bitumen view bitumen as an advanced and complex construction material, not as a mere by-product of the oil refining process.
